OLD JACKS LAMENT
- -Old Jacks Lament -
This is a hand forged pendant necklace created using 999 finest grade solid silver.
The pendant is gently oxidised to draw out the qualities of the line work and fine details that are in homage to my illustration style.
The pendant is threaded upon a silver chain measuring approx 22 inches and is boxed in hand crafted packaging alongside a silver polishing cloth to keep your jewellery in prime condition.
And the tale of this piece is as follows…
Old Jack was a turnip farmer who lived with his wife in the orange glows of New England. As Jack grew old and weary, he pined for eternal youth. Hearing his wish, the devil payed Jack a visit. Jack bargained with the Devil and the Devil said he would stay by Jacks side and grant his wish by turning himself into a silver coin and as long as Jack kept it upon him, he would stay eternally youthful. Jack, however, grew tired of eternal youth as he watched his wife wither away and the turnip farm that they owned came to an untimely end. Jack pleaded for the devil to release himself upon the return of the silver coin. The devil agreed and, with that, Jack turned forwards the hands of time and was too, an old withered soul. When Jack passed away, he visited the devil one last time as a friend and the devil struck upon him a bolt of light as a parting gift that Jack would forever live on through the glow of a Jack O Lantern.
