WITCHES RIDE - STERLING SILVER BROOMSTICK PENDANT

Broomsticks, otherwise known as besoms, have been used as a means of good luck in sweeping away bad fortune, hung above doorways the broom would protect the home from untoward spirit visitations. Across time, brooms have become a significant symbol of Witches, seen often at Samhain, flying through the star studded night sky and across the moon to meet with their coven. The broomstick gained this folk imagery from its use with flying herbs. Botanics such as datura, belladonna and mandrake, amongst others, would traditionally be blended and the salve placed upon the broom. The broom would then be placed in a strong grip across the body giving the powers of levitation.

There is such an expanse of history and folklore deriving from broomsticks, however, the prominent knowing is that the broom is a strong symbol of witchcraft heritage.

Hand carved from 925 solid sterling silver, these brooms are all individually cast making them all unique. To bring our details, these brooms are then given a patina to darken the line work. Chain lengths can vary upon request, this design however comes originally on a 925 darkened silver belcher chain at a length of 20”.
